Blackout Blinds: The Best Way To Darken Your Room

By

Blackout Blinds are transformative. If you close them, they will block every bit of light from a room even if it is in the middle of day. If you have ever spent time in a luxury hotel, you know that blackout blinds are a big part of the experience. They let you sleep in total darkness even if it is late in the day!

Blackout blinds also have home uses. Imagine any room in which you may want darkness at any time where there is daylight outside. You will want room darkening blinds where there is a child’s room and afternoon napping requires darkness. You will want room darkening blinds where total darkness will enhance watching a movie at home. And, of course, sleeping in on a weekend would not be the same without blackout blinds. Moreover, blackout blinds also help block noise out of your room to ensure a restful night’s sleep.

If you are considering blackout blinds, decide what options you want. If you choose a routed blind, it will have holes in each slat through which the slats are strung together. If you choose a routless blind, the slats will ladder on each other. Routed slats have holes in them through which light may infiltrate your room. The solution for this is to choose stylish cloth tapes to cover your slat holes so that you have complete blackout in your room.

You should always keep the main purpose of blackout blinds in mind. If they do not keep out the light, they are not worthwhile. But blackout blinds also have a secondary insulation quality. In other words, they are energy efficient and you are doing something positive for the environment by purchasing them. Blackout blinds will help keep unwanted heat out of your home in the hot months and will help keep wanted heat in your home in the cold months. Blackout blinds provide good insulation because they trap dead air between their slats. In addition to their energy efficient insulation, room darkening blinds will help stop solar radiation from damaging your furniture.

Internal blackout blinds, or blinds-between-glass, is one option you should give serious thought. Internal blinds are blinds that are sealed between double pane or triple pane windows. Blackout blinds are often not perfect because light can infiltrate where the blinds do not fit perfectly against the windows. But internal blinds are precisely fitted against the windows at the factory. There is zero risk of a gap between the blinds and the window.

Moreover, internal blackout blinds have other advantages as well. Because they are encased in glass, they will remain perpetually clean and will never be pushed out of place. The cord will never be a hazard to your children or to your pets.

Blackout blinds are the perfect solution for many consumers.  If you want a good light control solution for any room of your house, look into purchasing quality blackout blinds.
