If you are in the market for energy efficient window curtains, you should consider pinch pleated drapes. Pinch pleated drapes will not only enhance the décor of your home but will increase its energy efficiency and save you money. Because pinch pleated drapes are so popular you have a tremendous selection of styles and brands to choose from. There is no doubt that you will find pinch pleated drapes to your taste.  They are one of the most popular form of thermal drapes.

These drapes are characterized by the pinch pleating in their heading. There is a crimp over 5-8 inches where each pleat begins. Unlike a traditional drape, the drape rod is not pushed through a rod pocket. Instead, you hang these drips from drapery rings or hooks. The pleats are weighted at the bottom to give pinch pleated drapes a good hang. Pinch pleated drapes look particularly nice with a matching valance.

Pinch pleated drapes are so energy efficient because they are made of heavy duty materials and have foam lining.  Moreover, pleated material is better at trapping air.  Trapped air improves the energy efficiency of the drapes.

The energy efficiency of pinch pleated drapes cannot be overstated.  They are designed to be superlative insulators.  Your home will be warmer in the Winter and cooler in the Summer because of pinch pleated drapes.  Do not forget the federal tax credit.  If your drapes qualify, you may be eligible for a substantial credit that will defray the upfront cost of your drapes.  Also check whether your local utility company will offer rebates or credits for installing energy efficient window curtains.  Many do.

Because pinch pleated drapes have heavy lining, they are also superlative blackout drapes.  They are perfect for blocking all sunlight from a room in the middle of the day and creating total darkness.  Why would you want that?  There are many reasons.  They are perfect for creating cool dark rooms where children (or adults) may nap or sleep late.  They are also great for reducing computer or television glare from a room.  Pinch pleated drapes will also prevent light damage to your furniture and floors.

Do not overlook the value of pinch pleated drapes for sound insulation.  They will substantially reduce the amount of street noise that infiltrates your home from the outside.

In short, pinch pleated drapes are an energy efficient solution that will make your windows look great.
