Red Hair Dye

By

Show up one day in stunning red hair and everyone will stop and stare. Add fire and sass to your personal style by sporting red hair. If you are ready to try something different this year, read this hub about red hair dye.

Whenever you think about using red hair dye you should first decide whether you want to get your hair dyed at a salon or whether you want to do it at home. Professional hair salons have much more experience dyeing hair than you do and can help ensure that your hair comes out looking right. On the other hand, salons can be very expensive. Many people choose to buy high quality red hair dye from their local retail store or online and dye their hair at home. If you follow the directions on the package carefully, this can be safe and easy. If this is your first time, make sure you invite a friend over to help. No matter how flexible you are, you are not going to be able to properly reach every bit of your hair, much less eyeball it to make sure that you didn’t miss a spot. Better yet, throw a hair dye party. Invite over one or more friends, fire up the your ipod and take turns dyeing each others hair.

There are some great red hair dyes to choose from. But what brand you pick depends on what kind of red hair you want. Do you want a natural-looking red hair? If so, there are great red hair dyes from Clairol and L’Oreal, among others. Or would you rather have something punky and fresh? Then try Natural Instincts, Punky, Manic Panic, La Riche Directions, L’Oreal, Clairol (Hydriance Hibiscus, Blazing Intense Red, or Red Hot), or Water Works (Fire Red).

The threshold issue in how you will approach dye your hair is how red hair dye will interact with your current hair color. People with light to medium brown hair do not have any problems dyeing their hair to a deep red. Blondes, on the other hand, end up with pinkish hair if they use red hair dye. It is recommended that blonds first dye their hair brown and then use red hair dye. People with really dark brown hair or with black hair cannot attain red hair with red hair dye alone. The red hair dye does not contain any bleaching agents, and if you just put red on your dark hair you will effectively coat your hair with red pigment. If you are going for a reddish tinge on a dark canvas, perhaps this might work for you but it is not what most people are looking for. Instead, for most people with dark brown or black hair, bleaching is a required first step before they use red hair dye. And the hair dye they choose should be an intense or deep red. If you have light to medium brown hair, you will be able to dye to an intense red without difficulty. If you have blonde hair and use red hair dye, you will most likely end up with a pin

Red hair dye generally fades more quickly than any other hair color unless you actively maintain it. Red color pigment has the smallest hair molecules and therefore it washes out easily. Make the most of your red hair dye by using sunscreen on your hair and using color safe shampoo. Every few shampoos, substitute in a red-pigment shampoo and conditioner to help replace the red molecules that are being washed out. The general condition of your hair, the amount of sun your hair gets, and how hard your shower water is will also dictate how long your red hair dye lasts. Once you have finished dyeing your hair, sit back, relax, and enjoy all the compliments you will get on your new hair.
