White Hair Dye

By

Walk into the room with hair as white as virgin snow and everyone will sit up and take notice! This hub has tips on how to use white hair dye to make your hair the purest white.

There may be nothing quite as dramatic as white hair. But if you want this hair color, there may be a hard road ahead of you. White hair is the hardest to get right. But it can, and is done everyday. Approach this process the right way and you will have white hair that you and everyone around you will love.

The most foolproof way of getting the white hair you want is to go to a salon. Unlike some color changes, you will always need to bleach your hair if you want it to go white. Bleaching causes some degree of hair damage. How much damage depends on the care with which you bleach it. Going to a salon will put you in the hands of a professional that can keep the damage to a minimum. On the other hand, salons can be expensive, prohibitively so. People dye their hair at home with high quality white hair dye materials.

If you want to try dyeing your hair white at home, make sure you involve a friend. There are parts of your hair you just cannot reach or see. The only way to make sure you have applied your white hair dye properly is to have the help of a friend. Better yet, get a bottle of wine, put on some music, and dye each other’s hair!

When you choose to dye your hair white you need to make sure that your hair is at its very best before you begin this process. This is because you are going to need to bleach it heavily. If you hair is not healthy now, i.e., it is brittle or dry, hold off on going white for a little while. Instead, focus on using deep conditioning treatments on your hair until you get it healthy again. Then you will be ready to bleach it.

How involved the bleaching process will be turns on the current color of your hair. If you have dark hair, you should bleach your hair in several stages. In many instances, approximately 3-4 separate bleachings may be required if you have black hair. When you start bleaching, follow the instructions and take your time. It is critical that you do not leave the bleach in your hair beyond what the instructions of your product require. If you ignore these instructions you can do severe and permanent damage to your hair. There is no need to go to extremes with how you use your bleach. Rather, bleach your dark hair to its lightest in stages.

Once you bleach your hair to as light as you can get it, use purple toner on your hair. Whoa! Using purple to get white hairs sounds weird, doesn’t it? The reason is that purple toner neutralizes and eliminates the brassiness that bleaching will cause to your hair. What is left is a virgin snow white. Two coats are usually necessary. There are a number of quality purple toners on the market. Look to purple toners from La Riche Directions, Punky, L’Oreal, and the aptly named “Virgin Snow” by Manic Panic.

The way that purple toner works is that it interacts with the ammonia in the bleaching agent and neutralizes the brassiness. But if you have blonde hair naturally, purple toner will not work. If you want to go white, you will first need to bleach your hair to as light a shade as possible and then use purple toner.

After you use purple toner, use purple shampoo and conditioner. These products should be ones made for blondes. The purple shampoo and conditioner will further remove brassiness from your hair. Follow this with giving yourself a rinse with vinegar and cold water. Vinegar is helpful for lengthening the amount of time that your hair will remain white.

Choosing to use white hair dye is a decision you will not regret. Enjoy your new hair and enjoy all the attention you get!

thanks for the tips! One question: if I would (have to) bleach my hair, say, two times to get it to its lightest, how much time should there be between those two attempts? Thanks!
