If you love red wine, you need to understand everything possible about wine stain removal. For many, including myself, red wine is one of the most wonderful pleasures one can experience. However, red wine causes deep stains that can be hard to remove and many people have lost carpets and clothes to wine stains. It does not help, perhaps, that the wine tends to make you drunk and even more likely to spill it! Wine stain removal is something everyone should understand if they like red wine. Read this hubpage for great tips on wine stain removal.

People that love red wine, ironically, habitually spill it on their favorite rug, carpet or clothes. So what do you do? First, relax and accept that it has happened and you need to seek a reasoned solution. Your best solution is to act quickly before the wine stain sets. Look for the various wine stain removal products available. Look both online and at your local drugstore or grocery store. There are carpet products for wine stain removal as well as products for clothes. It is imperative that you follow carefully the instructions on your wine stain removal product. An alternative is to make a wine stain removal solution in your home.  One effective solution is to combine an equal amount of liquid soap and hydrogen peroxide.  Carefully dab this solution on to the wine stain.  Do not rub the stain or otherwise do anything to make it bigger or smudge it.  Before you begin, go ahead and test the solution on a small amount of the surface you are treating.  Hydrogen peroxide is a bleaching agent and may present a hazard for some surfaces.   If your surface is white, you do not need to worry about this.  Also, it is important to create a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and liquid soap.  Do not think you will get the same result by rubbing undiluted hydrogen peroxide and then undiluted soap on your stain (or vice versa).

For clothing stains, use the above solution for a pre-soak to treat the stain.  Then wash the item as normal.  If your red wine stain has not yet set, it is also helpful to immediately pour a little white wine on it.  White wine will act as a neutralizing agent and will make the red wine stain come out more easily.  For dry-clean only clothes, do not do anything to them at all. Take them to your cleaner for stain removal.  If your wine stain is on your carpet, also try vinegar as a rinsing agent.  This can sometimes be helpful.

Wine stains happen.  Do not let this prevent you from enjoying red wine.  Just stock up on some of the fine wine stain removal products on the market or use the solution described above.  Life is too short not to spend golden moments of it drinking red wine.
